FALL at FARM CHARM COTTAGE

Living (on purpose) in a wee, little 570'  vintage farmhouse cottage where every inch really does matter can present decorating challenges, especially for those of us who do not subscribe to the'"less is more" idea. This is especially true when decorating for the holidays.

Those precious tiny white 'baby boo' pumpkins are a perfect size to incorporate into small living quarters. Last year after Thanksgiving I found some of those sweet lil faux whites on clearance for .25 cents each. I knew they would be in good company with the other mini pumpkins I had amassed. Okay, I broke my rule of 'If I bring one item into my home, then five items must find a new home'. Oh'... that was a stupid rule.

Here are some pictures of my 'Farm Charm' cottage dressed for Fall. Recently, I found a sweet gray  glass pumpkin  that came home with me. I think I broke that 1 in 5 out rule again. It now sits on my mantle and is surrounded by little white baby boo pumpkins, candles, antlers and acorns. Fabric leaves in green and tan hang from my chain clip garland to finish off the Fall theme in my front room.

This chalk painted vintage mantle allows me to merchandise it with seasonal decor and it's original beveled, crackled, chippy goodness mirror is a focal point and back drop for holiday displays.

This little bump out in my front room was added on years after it was originally built. It is about the size of one of those slide outs in a fifth wheel. It's amazing how large homes are these days.My farmhouse is tiny but fits me like a hug.
A great spot to curl up and relax

I am so thankful for my blessed nest

Thanks for taking a tiny tour of my itty bitty farmhouse front room  It's so very small but oh so sweet. I like to change things up but due to it's size it is really difficult to move furniture around on a whim. So, I have to change things up by using small items here and there for seasonal changes. This smaller lifestyle is a more simple way to live. I find peace in not having a mortgage, very low property taxes and enough room inside to dance and celebrate a blessed life for which I am very thankful for. God is SO good. HE gives me breath, and I give HIM praise.

Thanks for making time to visit my Farm Charm Cottage this Fall season.  I also did a bit of decorating in my dining nook  and will be sharing those pictures in my next post. You can subscribe to this blog by email in she space provided on the right column of this blog. Some have inquired about my non use of InstaHAM., I do not do Space Book, or InstaHAM,. You can still find pictures of my Shabby Chic Tiny Retreat (tiny house on wheels) on Pinterest as well as on this blog under the "Tiny House" tab.

Please remember - It is never too late to have a happy childhood. Now, go play.

So lovely! You do have a beautiful way with decorating! Please, would you share where you bought your (lifelike) candles in the aubra? I am looking for some for our old farmhouse windows. All the ones I buy are so cheap and ugly! I am looking for some nice ones. :)

Hi Gigi, Thanks for your sweet comment. The free standing chandelier you see in my front room has what appears to be candle sticks. It is made that way. I most often use silicone dipped chandelier light bulbs which can be purchased on Amazon. Hope this link works for you.
https://www.amazon.com/Creative-Hobbies-Country-Silicone-Dipped/dp/B00TOUG6N2/ref=sr_1_2_sspa?ie=UTF8&qid=1541771313&sr=8-2-spons&keywords=dipped+light+bulbs&psc=1. When I run out of them, I can easily find the night light low watt bulbs locally that also work, but the silicone dipped ones look much better and resemble a flame. In the above picture if you look real close you will see I have two night light bulbs and one of the silicone dipped flame style bulbs. Now, I need to order some of the above recommended bulbs. Hope this helps.

Everything looks so cozy and yummy. The vintage mantel is quite beautiful. My motto is: "more is more". ..until it looks like clutter and then it's time to change, repurpose, eliminate, donate. sell. Nice job.

Hi Barbara,
Thanks for taking the time to visit my blog and especially for your nice comment.
Currently my tiny house on wheels is parked on my land in NC. I can not imagine living in a 8'x18' tiny house full time but it gives me options for the future. I'm keeping my eye out for another piece of land to set up my tiny home as a getaway. It is definitely in need of attention now and is currently way more shabby than chic.LOL. Presently It's used to store a lot of things that do not fit into my little farmhouse. Downsizing is certainly a process in motion over here. Right now it's an asset and part of my emergency preparedness plan should I need future options.

I have been an entrepreneur most of my life. The past 20 years I opened and ran several dog related businesses. Dogs are my passion. A total change of lifestyle, downsizing, relocating, going mortgage free and penny pinching has allowed me to slow my pace down tremendously. I do sell vintage treasures and chalk painted furniture in a couple of antique malls. However, my new career is all about running barefoot with the fur kids in these amazing Appalachian mountains. Many blessings to you and yours.

You have such a gift when it comes to decorating. I loved it all, but I really love the bunny pillow! May I ask where you got it? Thank you for inviting us into your home and a little bit of your life. God is good all the time - all the time, God is good.

Hi Cate,
Thanks for visiting and leaving a sweet comment. The bunny pillow, I used to sell them in my antique booth and had purchased the covers from a live auction. I was glad I kept one for myself. Gosh.. I didn't even realize you could see that in my pictures. No telling what I left on the floor before I took pictures. LOL.

Well, all I can say is what fun you must have playing in your house! I'm big on quotes and I really liked your, "It is never too late to have a happy childhood." Your home is absolutely charming and unique. I love vintage windows too and you are making such good use of the window for tea and cups, etc. I look forward to your Christmas decorating.

Tonita, you mentioned in your comment on my blog about using oil in the pan instead of waxed paper. The pan is oiled both under and over the waxed paper so the batter won't stick. When the cake is cooled off, I leave the waxed paper on and wrap it up for a few weeks to age.
This is the way my granny did it and I'm just carrying on the tradition. Thanks so much for your visit and I will be sure to stop by again and see what you're up to. Blessings...Sandi

Sandi, I love your blog. Thanks for popping over to mine. It is the craziest thing because just the other day my friend was explaining to me how she makes her holiday fruit cake just like her mom used to do. When she was telling me about the waxed paper, I figured it was because her mom must of ran out of oil to coat the pan, used wax paper and the tradition was carried on. My friend didn't know why the waxed paper was used but just kept the tradition. I can't wait to call her with your info about using oil on the inner part of the waxed paper, which is also important to its curing process. I don't think she uses oil on the inner part of the waxed paper. Thanks for the info. Blessings.

It all so adorable! It really is a fairytale cottage. The chandelier lamp and fireplace are exquisite. The deer pillow is so sweet and perfect for the setting in which you live. The banner is so pretty for Thanksgiving. The leaves here don't change until almost Christmas, and we have citrus and lemons. literally. :) Happy Thanksgiving!

I love Shabby Chic, and your blog. I found you after reading a comment you made on my blog http://lovemylittlecottage.com/create-a-victorian-shabby-christmas-tablescape/ Although I live in the lowcountry of South Carolina, I'm actually from Johnson City, Tennessee. I'm a Christian homeschooling mom who happens to dwell in a 1500 square ft. cottage. I have 5 kids, so space is limited here too! Have a Merry christmas, I look forward to following you.

Rebecca,
Thanks for your oh, so sweet comment. I am glad you are able find some things here that you can incorporate into your little cottage. I mix styles such as shabby chick, primitive, farmhouse and add dashes of french decor. Sort of a mix of this and that. No rules here. I have enough stuff to shop my home when I want to change things up. I have been having fun decorating for Christmas this year. Will post again soon. Would love to see photos of your cottage some day. Have a Merry Christmas.
